When wood is the right call

- Ground-level and simpler decks where a lower price gets you outside sooner.
- Rentals and second homes where you'd rather refinish than overspend.
Keeping a wood deck looking good on the coast
Sun and humidity are hard on bare wood. Plan to clean it and re-seal or stain it every year or two, and it'll stay in good shape. New pressure-treated lumber usually needs time to dry out before it takes a stain or sealer well. We'll tell you when yours is ready.
Want composite later?
If you think you might switch to composite boards down the road, tell us at the estimate. A frame built with the right spacing can take composite boards later without a full rebuild. Compare the two on our composite decks page.
